SEAM : socio-economic approach to management (overall functions)
Our research originated from an overall vision of the company operation and
the evidence that when professional of marketing and management control, for
example, become more and more expert in their field, they lose touch with the
core of the firm. It is the same with theoreticians when they work in overspecialized
domains. Today, doctors claim as well that generalists should be considered
as specialists of generality. Indeed, the major problem of firms is that they are torn apart
because of the lack of synchronization between their different functions. The central
function of orchestration which makes up the core of an enterprise, a division
or an activity, whatever the size, is very complex and often carried out with
a number of problems, dysfunctions and hidden costs.
Therefore, our purpose is not to intervene in specialized fields, which tend
to develop properly within firms and organizations but to favor an intervention
at the core and the interfaces so as to prevent the sometimes deadly tearing apart of the firm.
The general Socio-Economic Approach to Management (SEAM) thus aims to
strengthen the organization core by insisting on team work at all levels, from
the CEO to the supervisor. The scientific observation of a company’s operation
shows that the team concept is more virtual than real in spite of all the incantations
of management theoreticians and practitioners. SEAM permits to reinforce the
core of the organization and renders it more reliable, robust and efficient
over time.
